Federal Finance Minister Senator Shaukat Tarin has said that today is the big day for the poor as people will get benefits from the trickle-down effects of the economy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a function arranged by the Akhuwat in Islamabad on interest-free loans under Kamyaab Pakistan Programme on Thursday, the finance minister regretted that the poor of this country had lived their lives in dreams only.
He said that previous governments had only sold dreams of economic development to masses but these dreams had never been realized. But a man came who believes in the State of Madinah, he said adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to improve the lot of the poor.
Mr Tarin said the prime minister asked him to do something that the poor could earn with respect as the government was fully cognizant of the ego of the people. He stated that PM Khan directed him to provide health cards to the people so that they could afford their health expenditures.
Eulogizing the interest-free loan facility by the Ahkuwat in a bid to propel the economy, the minister expressed his optimism that this could jumpstart the economy. He said all big and small banks would be inclusive in this effort and they would provide loans. He believed that as many as 4 million houses would be benefitted from the loan facility by the government.
He said people could obtain interest-free agriculture loans up to Rs500,000 from the banks. They could borrow Rs500,000 for starting their business venture and a loan up to Rs2 million or Rs2.5 million could be acquired for construction of a house.
Mr Tarin touted that the government would impart skilled training to at least one member of a family so that he could earn livelihood for his family.
He said the fourth aspect of this economic paradigm was health card which would rid the people of their worries pertaining to health expenditures.
He hoped when this economic programme reached the people, the country would progress. He said government believed in merit and all loans would be provided on merit.
