Former prime minister Imran Khan has welcomed the decision of the Islamabad High Court to hold the local body election in the federal capital on December 31.
In a special message, Imran Khan said he congratulates the people of Islamabad on the court order.
He added: “As a result of this court decision, the people of Islamabad will be able to elect their reps to get rid of the corrupt.
“It is unfortunate for the country that the Election Commission of Pakistan is conniving with the corrupt.
“The ECP always takes decisions against democracy by supporting the imposed ruling team. But, the honourable courts always reject its illegal action.”
He continued: “The corrupt ruling coalition is afraid of the people, they always take an escape from elections. Thieves' only attempt is to maintain their rule.
“They use the money of horse trading and corruption to establish the market of consciences to keep control over the country.
“I strongly urge the people of Islamabad to fully participate in the local body elections. I hope the people of Islamabad will defeat the corrupt.
