Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has successfully expanded its operations, restoring multiple international routes within the past six months, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.

According to PIA documents, these routes were reopened after a gap of nearly four years, following extensive aircraft repairs and operational enhancements.

Between August 2024 and January 2025, PIA increased flights to Europe, Gulf countries, and Saudi Arabia, prioritising connectivity from smaller airports across Pakistan.

Newly restored international routes include direct flights from Quetta to Jeddah, Faisalabad to Jeddah, and Faisalabad to Madinah in August 2024.

In January 2025, the Islamabad to Paris route reopened, Turbat to Sharjah flights launched, the Turbat to Al Ain route was added, Gwadar to Muscat flights resumed, and Lahore to Kuwait operations were restored.

According to PIA officials, the European routes had been suspended due to EU restrictions, while other international routes were halted due to aircraft shortages.

Officials stated that after repairing ATR and Airbus aircraft, the airline was able to restore several suspended routes.
