Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Tuesday got angry and ordered turning off the mike of PPP’s Abdul Qadir Baloch as soon as he mentioned the name of Sita White which was followed by a walkout staged by the opposition members.
It all started when Federal Minister Ali Zaidi levelled serious allegations against the PPP leadership. As a result, PPP leader Naveed Qamar removed his coat and moved towards the treasury benches, asking Zaidi to come and fight if he wanted to.
“What kind of attitude you are showing. Do you want a fight? It you want a fight then come. I am ready,” said a belligerent Naveed Qamar.
At first the PPP lawmakers protested over the content of Zaidi’s speech and gathered in front of the speaker’s dais after which Asad allowed Naveed Qamar to speak.
But the constant interruption and sloganeering on part of the ruling party members made Naveed Qamar angry.
Later, the speaker intervened and ordered turning off the mike of Patel, saying, “Turn off his mike.” The orders came after Patel had just said, “Let’s start with discussing Sita White.”
However, the PPP and other opposition members were not impressed with the approach of both the PTI members and the speaker, as they walked out of the House in protest.
In his speech, Zaidi did not stop levelling allegations against the PPP leadership, accusing them of being linked with Uzair Baloch and corrupt elements.
Meanwhile, the House saw this episode when the supplementary budget was under discussion as Hammad Azhar – a federal cabinet member – justified the supplementary grants.
Sita White alleged to have a relationship with Prime Minister Imran Khan in 1980s. Later she gave birth to Tyrian White who is stated to be the daughter of Imran.
Although he did not accept her as his daughter, a California judge declared that Imran was the father after he failed to contest the paternity suit Sita White had filed.
Later, the opposition members gathered outside the Parliament House and talked to media where PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi challenged Imran Khan to take vote of confidence from the National Assembly.
The former prime minister said the speaker had become party, adding that he had never experienced such abusive language in the House.
Abbasi said every minister and department was involved in corruption and added that none of the allegations levelled against the PML-N and PPP leaders could be proven. “Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is now acquitted after 10 years,” he said and promised to face the government at every level.
