An agreement has been reached between the government and the opposition on the formula for the formation of standing committees in the National Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
According to sources, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will receive 12 standing committees, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will be allotted 9.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will be assigned 7 standing committees, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) will receive 7 as well.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will be given 2 standing committees, and both the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (Q-League) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) will each receive 1 standing committee.
Due to vacant seats in the National Assembly, three standing committees will remain unassigned. The party that is allocated the seats will also receive the chairmanship of those committees.
Additionally, the government has agreed to appoint the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) from the Sunni Ittehad Council.
