The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Science and Technology met on Monday.
Sher Afzal Marwat has expressed his disappointment with the bureaucratic delays that have prevented Pakistani students from participating in the International Junior Science Olympiad.
Sher Afzal Marwat slammed the Science and Technology secretary for failing to ensure the necessary arrangements, stating, "Files remain pending for days, which cost us this opportunity."
The Secretary of Science clarified that the government’s new policy requires the PM’s approval for foreign visits.
"I received the summary on the last day, signed it promptly, and forwarded it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he explained.
Marwat highlighted the consequences of such lapses, warning that non-participation for two consecutive years could lead to the cancellation of Pakistan’s registration in the Olympiad.
The meeting concluded with calls for streamlining processes to avoid similar setbacks in the future.
