Punjab Food Department fixed Rs225 per mound Minimum Support Price (MSP) of sugarcane for the sugar mills in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Secretary Food said that sugar mills would not be able to buy sugarcane from growers other than the fixed rate.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has failed to stop the price hike of sugar as it is hiked by Rs2 per kilogram in the last two days.

Earlier, sugar prices increased Rs2 per kilogram and reached Rs110 per kilogram in Karachi city.

It is pertinent to mention here that the price of sugar during the PTI-led government's three years in power also experienced a large increase as the commodity that was available in 2018 for Rs55-59 per kg and now sells at 110 per kg.
