In the rarest spectacle in the country’s parliamentary history, the National Assembly (NA) session on Friday could not last more than 12 minutes when it was prorogued for an indefinite time period on account of lack of quorum, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Earlier, during the session the deputy speaker told members of the opposition, who kept pressing him to allow them to speak, that they would be given an opportunity after the question-answer’s session.

Later, when the opposition pointed out the quorum, the session had to be prorogued.

Only a day before on December 30 (Thursday), chaotic scenes were witnessed in the lower house of the parliament when members from both sides of the political divide were at each other’s throats after the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government presented the much-talked about ‘mini budget’.

A woman lawmaker, belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), even slapped on the face of a PTI lawmaker (also a female) in a fit of anger.
