Pakistan donates 1,800MT wheat to people of Afghanistan

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister has handed over the first consignment of 1,800MT wheat to Afghan Minister for National Disaster Management at the Torkham border, which is part of Pakistan's announcement to send 50,000MT wheat to the people of Afghanistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Shehzad Arbab addressing the ceremony said, “Pakistan is providing food, medicine and warm cloth supplies to prevent cold and harsh weather to the Afghan people. We believe peace and stability in the region is linked to peace in Afghanistan.”

He appealed to the international community to play its part in the economic stability of Afghanistan.

PM Imran Khan’s humanitarian assistance worth Rs5 billion has been handed over to Afghan Minister for National Disaster Mullah Abbas Akhund in a ceremony held at Pak-Afghan Torkham border. Mullah Akhund thanked the government and people of Pakistan for the wheat donations.

Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmad Khan also shared the picture of the handing over ceremony to the Afghan minister.

The logistics of wheat from Pakistan to Afghanistan was performed by the National Logistics Cell (NLC).

The NLC will deliver wheat supplies through Torkham, Chaman, Angor Ada and Ghulam Khan Border terminals within two months.
