A Sindh court Saturday ordered the release of a fighting rooster caught by local police during a crackdown on alleged gamblers in a Ghotki village eight months ago.

The owner of fighting cock was directed to submit Rs20,000 surety bonds to get his Rs100,000 bird released freed.

The rooster was in police custody after the lawmen arrested the bird along with its owner during an anti-gambling operation in Ghotki eight months ago.

According to the police they looked after the rooster and took it to all the court hearings. Cockfight, the popular game in the country’s rural areas, is a blood sport between two roosters.
