Accusing the PML-N and PPP governments of signing agreements with the independent power producers (IPPs) for their own interests rather than for the sake of the country, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) and PTI stalwart Omar Ayub Khan on Tuesday said these were the parties whose contracts led to a power crisis in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, with other PTI leaders sitting alongside him, he alleged that the federal government was meting out a step-motherly attitude towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). “When the PTI was in power, each unit of electricity cost Rs17, which has now jumped to Rs85,” Omar said, adding that now the federal ministers were raising hue and cry without admitting their fault.
He said that presently the capacity charges had reached Rs2,800 billion.
Calling the present government the product of Form-47, the leader of the opposition said that it was formed after robbing the PTI of the people’s mandate.
