The Lahore High Court will take up the plea against kite-flying on April 1, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabbir will conduct the hearing on the plea filed by a citizen Azam Ali Butt seeking directives to get the ban on the gory game enforced.

The petitioner made parties the Punjab government, IGP and CTO in the plea stressing the deadly game of kite flying continued unabated in the Punjab capital, claiming many lives and leaving several people injured.

Last week, a young man lost his life after a kite string slit his throat in Iqbal Division area of Faisalabad.

Asif’s death gave a wake-up call to the authorities. The chief minister took notice of the dreadful death and issued directives to take action.

Though some arrests were made and kite-flying paraphernalia was confiscated, the violation of the kite-flying ban has been going unabated.
