What could be termed a bombshell for the inflation-hit masses, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Tuesday notified Rs1.25 per unit increase in the electricity prices under the third quarterly fuel adjustment for 2022-23, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The NEPRA gave its decision on the petitions filed by the power distribution companies.
Consumers will now have to pay additional amounts in their monthly bills for July, August and September, 2023.
Hitherto, consumers were paying 47 paisa per unit under the quarterly adjustment, which was effective until June 2023.
The hike in power tariff will apply to all consumers, except lifeline consumers.
The Authority’s decision will also not apply to the Karachi-Electric (K-Electric) consumers.
