ATC approves 5-day physical remand of jailed PTI leader Qureshi in eight riots, arson cases

Court allows investigation officers to interrogate Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail till June 10

Anti-Terror Court (ATC) Lahore approved a 5-day physical remand of jailed PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi in eight different cases regarding May 9 riots, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

ATC Judge Khalid Arshad allowed the investigation officers that Shah Mehmood Qureshi can be interrogated in Adiala Jail till June 10.

Attendance of Shah Mehmood Qureshi from Adiala Jail was completed through WhatsApp.

PTI leader’s lawyer Rana Mudassar during the hearing pleased that Qureshi should be discharged from the cases.

Public Prosecutor Muhammad Arz and Abdul Jabbar Dogar told the court that the May 9 riots accused released videos and messages on social media about sedition.

The prosecutors told the ATC judge that Shah Mahmood Qureshi was accused of sedition and inciting the workers to arson.

And the Investigating Officer has to conduct a photographic test of the accused to verify the statements. Prosecutors further said that all the materials uploaded by the accused on social media have been sent to the forensic lab by the investigating officer.

During the last hearing, Shah Mehmood Qureshi's 9-day physical was approved. During physical remand, interrogations were conducted in Adiala Jail.

The eight cases included Shadman police station arson case, hate speeches and torching of Sherpao Bridge, the case of burning police vehicles in front of Zaman Park, the burning of police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk and the burning of police vehicles in Gulbarg and others.
