On the recommendations of an inquiry committee looking into sexual harassment allegations at Gomal University, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor has sacked four more employees of the varsity.

The inquiry committee was instituted on the orders of KP Governor Shah Farman, reported BBC on Thursday.

The sacked employees were Professor Dr Bakhtiar Khan, Assistant Professor Imran Qureshi, Game Supervisor Hikmatullah and Laboratory Attendant Hafeezullah.

It may be mentioned here that university’s Director Administration Dilnawaz Khan had already been suspended on the orders of the KP Governor whereas Chairman Islamiyat Department Prof Dr Salahuddin had resigned after a report was aired by a TV channel.

KP Governor in a clear message to the universities warned them “to get their house in order as it would make no difference if anyone would be sacked or sent to jail because there will be no compromise on the future of the students”.

“There would be zero tolerance for elements involved in sexual harassment and financial irregularities in top educational institutions,” the KP governor added.

Earlier, Prof Dr Salahuddin had been caught red-handed sexually harassing female students and was dismissed from the position by the Gomal University administration. The female students accused Prof Salahuddin of following them on social media. The professor has been forced to resign.

It had been reported that Professor Salahuddin used to harass students threatening them with scoring lower marks in examinations. There had also been complaints against him for misbehaving with women teachers, but the administration never initiated any action against him.

This has been discovered by an inquiry committee which has been investigating several complaints.
