A tragic incident unfolded as a former police officer was shot dead by his stepbrother near the Joray Pul area in the northern cantonment of Lahore, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday. 

According to police, the altercation began when the accused Ali's security guards were harassing the deceased Shahid Asghar's son. 

Upon being asked to stop, Ali and his associates opened fire on former Station House Officer (SHO) Police Shahid Asghar and then fled the scene.

The injured former SHO was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. 

Police have collected evidence from the crime scene, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination in the hospital.
