Punjab’s caretaker government has announced a project to digitize the system of diagnostic tests in teaching hospitals across the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
The project aims to improve the efficiency and quality of health care services by enabling doctors to view MRI, CT scan, X-ray and pathology lab reports online in each ward. The project is part of the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) initiative that seeks to modernize the hospital administration and management.
Previously, patients in teaching hospitals had to face long delays in getting their diagnostic reports and showing them to their doctors. This often resulted in delayed treatment and increased suffering for the patients. The digital diagnostic system will eliminate the need for physical copies of the reports and reduce the waiting time for the patients. The system will also help the doctors to access the reports from anywhere and anytime, and to make informed decisions based on the latest data.
