Maryam increases women’s quota in Public Service Commission

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced to increase quota for women in the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) from 10 to 15 percent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Addressing at a ceremony organized to mark International Women's Day, Punjab Chief Minister highlighted about women empowerment and their rights in Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz said that it’s very proud to see women working in high positions. "I salute and value every woman. I want women to become chief ministers in other provinces as well."
CM Maryam stated that daycare centers in offices will be restarted. "Legislation is being considered to approve maternity leave within three days.
Women will be immediately recruited to fill seats reserved for them' she said adding funds are being allocated for hostels for women working in Safe City.
She continued that interest-free loans will be provided to women engaged in small businesses.
Further, the Chief Minister discussed her career in politics saying, “There was male dominance within my party, it took me 12-13 years to come to this stage where I am today.”
“Women in every field have to endure many issues, including harassment, but despite that, they are performing excellently in every aspect of life”, she said.
She urged women to do whatever they want to do in their life and be ready for every situation adding, “I too have faced hurdles and other issues, and if women want to demonstrate their performance in any field of life, they should do so.”
“Harassing women is my red line”, Maryam stated.
CM Maryam also said that unfortunately, cases of violence have become very common now. There are still many flaws in our system. Regrettably, restrictions are placed on women when they complain in our society.
She delivered a special message for parents saying, “Parents should instill confidence in their daughters, and if a girl steps out of her home with trust in her family, she will become even stronger.
Further, Maryam talked about a safety app that has been developed for the protection of women. She urged every woman to use that app adding that she would create awareness about that app through campaigns in different schools, colleges, universities, and other ladies' institutions.
Maryam Nawaz stated that employing underage children as domestic workers is a crime, and the people who employ underage workers will face severe punishments.
Moreover, Maryam Nawaz saluted Shahbaz Sharif for the Safe City project and announced that cameras will be installed under this project in other cities of Punjab as well.
