Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed said on Saturday that the country’s political situation was getting complicated with each passing day, and had unpredictable consequences, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to media, he said if somebody was under the impression that these political developments would have a positive outcome, he was wrong.

He further said it was a pity that both father and son, namely Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz, who were eyeing the Prime Minister House and Chief Minister House, respectively, were nominated in money laundering and corruption cases. “Shehbaz is to be indicted a day after tomorrow (on Monday, April 11),” he said.

Rasheed said Prime Minister Imran Khan was more popular in masses now as compared to the past.

The interior minister stressed the need for holding general elections in the country at the earliest since that was the only way out of the present political crisis. “There may be terrorist attacks,” he said, adding, “I am issuing a warning since I am the country’s interior minister and I know about the infiltration of a large number of militants.”

He went on to add that if the situation deteriorated further, the country’s establishment would not remain silent.

Answering a question on the ‘neutrality’ of state institutions amid reports of the existence of a ‘foreign conspiracy’ for a regime change in Pakistan, Rasheed said it was heartening to see that those very opposition parties, which singled out the establishment for their woes, had now admitted its ‘neutrality’.
