Eid 2025 was all about graceful silhouettes and royal elegance, with one timeless fashion staple stealing the spotlight—the farshi shalwar. This traditional South Asian attire, known for its floor-length, flowing trousers, made a grand comeback, with celebrities, designers, and influencers embracing its dramatic flair.

The Revival of a Mughal-Era Trend

The farshi shalwar, derived from the Persian word "farsh", meaning "floor," has deep roots in Mughal-era fashion, where it was a symbol of nobility and grandeur. While the trend had faded in favor of more practical shalwars, it has now made a stunning return, thanks to designers modernizing it with contemporary cuts and fabrics.

Fashion stylist Tabesh Khoja, popularly known as Khoji, credits model and actress Sadaf Kanwal for helping reintroduce the farshi shalwar to mainstream fashion. "I styled Sadaf Kanwal in a farshi shalwar back in 2023, and since then, every other designer has been incorporating their own versions of it," he told Arab News.

Celebrities Who Stunned in Farshi Shalwars This Eid

Pakistani celebrities fully embraced the trend this Eid, proving that the farshi shalwar is here to stay.

Urwa Hocane stunned in a pastel green Danyah Qazi outfit, featuring a plain farshi shalwar, allowing her dupatta and shirt to take center stage.

Sarah Khan wore a butter-yellow ensemble from her brand Alyana, with delicate embroidery and a matching farshi shalwar adorned with lace.

Ushna Shah opted for a dramatic pink look from Haseens, with intricate beadwork and a flowing farshi shalwar that trailed elegantly.

Ramsha Khan channeled spring vibes in a vibrant yellow and mint green outfit from Truba, covered in embroidered floral patterns.

Sehar Khan looked ethereal in Mohsin Naveed Ranjha’s creamy peach ensemble, featuring embroidered details and pearl embellishments.

Yumna Zaidi went full glam in a bright red Truba outfit, with a heavily embroidered golden dupatta and a regal farshi shalwar.

Men Join the Farshi Shalwar Trend

The farshi shalwar isn’t just for women—Pakistani men also embraced the trend this Eid. Actor and host Fahad Mustafa made waves by donning the look on Jeeto Pakistan, while singer Falak Shabbir also sported the elegant ensemble.

Khoja predicted that farshi shalwars will continue dominating Pakistani fashion, saying, “You will see both men and women wearing them for a long time.”
