After the UK, Norway and Portugal, the US State Department has also improved Pakistan’s travel advisory for major cities particularly Islamabad.

The US Travel Advisory acknowledged ‘improved security’ situation in Pakistan.

Welcoming the update, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Asad Majeed Khan said the country is now truly open for business and tourism.

In a statement, Foreign Office issued in Islamabad said: “Pakistan has described the update in US Travel Advisory, acknowledging improvement in Pakistan’s security environment, as a step in the right direction.”

Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said Pakistan has made resolute efforts to enhance security throughout the country. She said the significant improvement in the security environment has led the United Nations to redesignate Islamabad as a family station for its personnel.

The spokesperson said recently the United Kingdom, while acknowledging the measures taken by Pakistan, has also revised its travel advisory.

The positive decisions by Portugal and Norway with regard to their travel advisories for Pakistan also reflected the confidence of these European governments in Pakistan’s security environment.

Pakistan has also been declared as one of the “Best Holiday Destinations for 2020” by an award-winning travel magazine ‘Conde Nast Traveler.’

The FO spokesperson said with Pakistan’s liberal visa regime and conducive environment for tourism, we are confident that the larger number of tourists from all over the world would be travelling to Pakistan.

She said the improved security situation also offers opportunities for enhanced economic activity and foreign direct investment in the country.
