Work on setting up office for Broadsheet probe panel underway

The government has started work to make functional the commission constituted to dig into the Broadsheet scam.
Prime Minister Imran Khan set up last month the commission under Justice (r) Sheikh Azmat Saeed to probe the scam within 45 days. The former SC judge, Sheikh Azmat was part of the bench that removed Nawaz Sharif from the premiership over corruption.
According to sources, the cabinet division wrote a letter to the law ministry to establish a secretariat for the body and adopted measures to manage an office building, finances, and resources. The letter asked the ministry to provide necessary data to the probe panel, the source said.
The law ministry was and department concerns were mulling over setting up the commission office in the building of Federal Shariah Court.
The cabinet division issued last week the notification for the commission and its terms of reference (ToRs). The commission will dig into the contracts signed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) with the Broadsheet and other asset recovery firms to unearth foreign assets of Pakistanis.
