The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to announce contracts for domestic cricketers in the current month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to PCB insiders, this move follows a previous announcement in August, 2024 that 150 domestic players would receive contracts as part of the board’s commitment to strengthening the local cricket structure.
Sources indicated that the selection of players for the contracts has already been finalized.
The delay in the official announcement has been attributed to the board's ongoing commitments with the domestic cricket season, which commenced in August.
Despite this, the PCB has remained consistent in its plans to support domestic talent and enhance their financial stability through these contracts.
In August, the PCB had also introduced new player categories for domestic contracts.
Under this scheme, players in Category-1 will earn a monthly salary of PKR 550,000, a significant step toward professionalizing domestic cricket in Pakistan.
