Amid the rising political temperature after former premier Nawaz Sharif took a tough line of action and the resultant rumours that his daughter may soon be arrested, PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Thursday said Maryam Nawaz wasn’t afraid of arrest and cowards.
“Do whatever you want to do. This struggle would not stop,” Marriyum said at press talk in Lahore outside the party’s secretariat at Model Town. Maryam was not among those who were frightened, she was from those who frightened others, she remarked.
The PML-N spokesperson made it clear that they won’t be affected or influenced no matter what the government wanted to do, as their struggle was for the people.

About the government members’ repeated statements and the recent remarks passed by an IHC judge, she mentioned that none of the medical reports concerning Nawaz were challenged. His condition deteriorated while in NAB custody, Marriyum recalled.
The politics of Pakistan should now be practiced according to the country’s constitution, the PML-N spokesperson stressed. “An incompetent and undemocratic gang is currently imposed on the country,” she added.
Marriyum also remarked that those in government were afraid of the people and not even able to visit their constituencies.
The statement came as rumours were rife in Lahore that Maryam – the PML-N vice-president and political heiress of Nawaz – would soon be arrested under Section 16 of MPO (Maintenance of Public Order).
Maryam is expected to play an important role in the rallies and other activities planned by the recently-formed Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). In this connection, she will address a rally in Gujranwala on Oct 16.
