Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Aitzaz Goraya has accused the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) of spreading propaganda against security forces following a recent train attack and subsequent counter-operation.
Addressing a press conference alongside Deputy Commissioner Saad Bin Asad and government spokesperson Shahid Rind, he alleged that BYC members forcibly removed bodies from the hospital morgue, assaulted staff, and caused damage to public property.
Five bodies were brought to Civil Hospital, where BYC members demanded custody, claiming to be the legal heirs.
During the dispute, the hospital morgue was allegedly vandalized.
DIG Goraya stated that the protests reignited after two bodies were taken away, followed by the arrival of another.
He questioned whether only police bullets could have caused the deaths and denied allegations of police firing-related fatalities.
He further accused the protesters of setting police vehicles on fire, damaging fiber optics, and attacking police installations.
He clarified that arrests were made legally and denied any instances of forced disappearances.
According to him, 35 minors had already been returned to their families, while 61 individuals remain in custody, with 13 named in First Information Reports (FIRs).
Deputy Commissioner Saad Bin Asad reiterated that protests must adhere to legal protocols and should not disrupt public administration.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind also reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, warning that violations of legal boundaries would not be tolerated.
He emphasized that while peaceful protests are a constitutional right, authorities have the discretion to designate appropriate venues for demonstrations.
