Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday terminated the basic party membership of 22 more important personalities including former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for deviating from the party policy, reported the 24NewsHD TV Channel.

A formal notification was issued, bearing the signature of Secretary General Umar Ayub, to communicate the cancellation of their party memberships.

The action comes as these leaders publicly announced their dissociation from the party through press conferences or video messages following incidents that occurred on May 9.

The notification explicitly cites the reasons for this action.

PTI PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan canceled the basic party membership of former Usman Buzdar, former MNA Sardar Mohammad Khan Leghari, and former federal minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar.

The PTI also revoked the membership of Javed Akhtar Ansari, Farooq Azam Malik, and Muhammad Akhtar Malik for their defection from the party.

On the instructions of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the party also expelled Syed Muhammad Nadeem Shah, Ehtishamul Haq, Bahawal Khan Abbasi, Sabin Gu, Mian Shafi Muhammad, Syed Muhammad Asghar Shah, Mian Tariq Abdullah, and Muhammad Afzal from the party for going against the party policy and attending the new party meeting.

The basic membership of Ahsan-ul-Haq, Saleem Akhtar, Muhammad Zaheeruddin Khan Alizai, Nawab Salman Khan Gadhoka, Akram Kanu, Mohiuddin Solangi, Makhdoom Afqarul Hasan, and Raja Muhammad Salim were terminated by the PTI general secretary.

The notice of termination states, “Therefore, you are served with this notice of termination of your basic membership from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Your membership has been terminated effective immediately.”

It added, “You are directed to refrain from using the Party name, designation, and/or membership in any manner whatsoever, failing which the Party reserves the right to take action against you, which may also lead to legal action.”

All members were also directed to avoid using party name, designation, and membership in any manner or else legal action would be taken against them.
