The federal tax ombudsman office has sped up its action against the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) officials harassing the taxpayers as well as withholding their refunds as out of 650 cases the department decided in the last two months, it recommended action against over 550 such tax officials, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah said that he would continue to take action against the FBR officials either harassing or withholding refunds of the people.

At the same time, he made it clear that there would be no action against the officials performing their duties with honesty and diligently.

He further said that his speech in which he had referred to the absence of action against the ‘corrupt’ FBR officials was reported out of context. “There is no truth in the story doing rounds on the social media regarding non-action against these officials,” he clarified.
