Akbar S Babar, a former and founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised many questions about the fairness and transparency of the intra-party election within the PTI, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to 24NewsHD exclusively on Friday, Akbar discussed critical aspects of the intra-party election and shed light on the challenges and concerns.
He termed the intra-party election of PTI just an eyewash.
“It is the first election in which there are no nomination papers and voter list,” Akbar hinted, adding that this fake exercise has put the PTI symbol, "Bat", at risk.
He questioned the decision to hold the election at the PTI's central office in Peshawar instead of Islamabad.
Highlighting the historical context, he said that PTI was the first party that was looted by commercial politicians in its early days, and now, it encountered turmoil from within by practicing lawyers.
Babar said that he has decided to challenge the PTI intra-party election. “I will present the facts regarding the intra-party election before the Election Commission of Pakistan,” he vowed.
He said that the people who are demanding democracy and a level playing field should bring democracy to their party.
Babar again expressed his resolve to bring transparency and accountability to the forefront of the intra-party election process within PTI.
