SC issues written order over plea against NAB amendment

 The Supreme Court has issued a written order for the August 29 hearing on the PTI chairman’s petition against NAB amendments in Supreme Court

 The 4-page dissenting note by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is also part of the 8-page order, stating the top court judge disagreed with the opinion of Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan

 the Supreme Court issued a stay order on the Practice and Procedure Act, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said in the note, adding that as the matter is pending, the hearing of this case should be stayed.

Otherwise, a full court should be formed to take up the matter, he maintained.

“My position in the military courts case was also that the Full Court should hear the case,” Justice Mnsoor noted.

"I think that the NAB amendments case should be heard by the full court; the case will have its own impact," Justice Mansoor remarked.

"The NAB amendments were not a matter of violation of fundamental human rights.

"If we accept for a minute that the members of parliament made amendments to benefit themselves, should we declare the NAB amendments null and void? On what grounds should we do that?"

He said that the elections were around the corner and it should be left for the people to decide.

"The biggest violation is how a person left parliament of his own free will," Justice Mansoor remarked, adding that a parliamentarian is a trustee of the people.

"Parliament's forum was there, how did someone leave the representation of their constituency? What is the good intention of the petitioner?"
