Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, having just secured bail from session court, was re-arrested on Saturday in a new case registered in Mardan district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
A district and sessions court in Mardan has accepted the bail application of former speaker of National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Asad Qaiser and issued his release order.
The court accepted Asad Qaiser’s bail application against Rs100,000 surety bonds.
However, following his release from central prison, police re-arrested Mr Qaiser, citing his suspected involvement in the attack on a store.
The former National Assembly speaker was arrested by the Charsadda police in connection with the May 9 riots and on November 24, the sessions court rejected the police plea for physical remand of the PTI leader and sent him to the Central Jail in Mardan on judicial remand.
On Friday, the court after hearing arguments from Asad Qaiser’s lawyers, reserved its judgement on his bail application.
During today’s hearing, District and Sessions Court Judge Muhammad Zaib Khan announced the reserved decision and accepted the bail application of the PTI leader.
The court also ordered to release Asad Qaiser on bail if he is not involved in any other case.
Asad Qaiser was booked in terrorism and other cases related to the May 9 violence.
Police produced him in the sessions court as the anti-terrorism court judge had gone on leave.
Court grants bail to Sanam Javed
Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore has accepted the bail application of incarcerated PTI leader Sanam Javed in the fifth and the latest case against her.
The court granted her bail against Rs200,000 surety bonds.
Sanam’s lawyer told the court that the social media activist is being implicated in cases again and again.
The judgement was pronounced by ATC Judge Arshad Javed.
The prosecution presented Sanam Javed’s record in the court.
He accused Sanam and other PTI activists of hurling petrol bombs at police officials who were standing outside the Zaman Park. He further said that the DIG police and other law personnel were also subjected to torture and police vans were torched by them.
Sanam Javed was arrested in a case registered in the Race Course police station under 410/23.
