Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) investigation report said that excessive use of VPN by consumers has put extra burden on the bandwidth and it was need of the hour that bandwidth should be increased for smooth and uninterrupted flow of internet in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has completed its investigation regarding slowdown in internet after due consultations with telecom companies. 

PTA inquiry report said telecom companies Jazz and Telenor identified that they were face blocking issues on X however, they reported no issue with web browsing and data services. 

Telecom operator Zong reported a drop in data traffic across all major applications. Zong claimed 16 percent drop in TikTok traffic on its network. According to PTA, Ufone pointed out lack of performance of OTT platforms, however no problem was reported in web browsing. 

PTA investigation said fixed line operators also pointed out problems in internet speed, however, PTCL identified disruption in social media services. 

PTL said the services of TikTok, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram were affected, however, no problem was found in web browsing. Cybernet also identified disruptions to social media and web browsing on its network. NewTel said services on its network were not affected at all. Transworld confirmed slow speeds in video streaming, calls and web browsing. 

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has sent its investigation report regarding slowdown in internet to Ministry of Information and Technology.
