PTI Chairman Imran Khan has lashed out at the government for increasing oil prices unprecedentedly and given a call for a countrywide protest.

The former premier took Twitter and launched a fresh tirade against the coalition government.

He said: “Imported govt has increased petroleum prices by 40% or Rs 60 per litre. This will increase the burden on the public by Rs900 billion and a price hike in basic necessities. Plus, the Rs8 increase in electricity price will put the entire country into shock. Expect inflation by 30% highest in 75 years.”

The ex-PM listed his government’s feats too.  “Our govt sustained pressure of Covid and gave Rs1200b package.

“This year alone we reduced sales tax to zero percent and additionally provided Rs466b energy subsidies to protect our public. For us our priority has always been our people.”

He urged the people to join his protest after Juma prayers, saying: I want everyone to come out and protest peacefully after Juma prayers tomorrow.

He asserted that the coalition has no nothing to do with coping with the economic challenges as their mission is to escape accountability.

“Those who conspired to topple our govt had no plans to deal with the economy. Their main priority was to give themselves NRO2 (immunity from their corruption cases), rig elections; destroy state institutions with their goons & crush opposition thru FIRs & state power.”
