March 3, 2023 11:38 PM

Muhammad Khan Bhati, the front-man of former chief minister Parvez Elahi, has confessed that he paid kickbacks to the persons holding key posts at the behest of Parvez and his son Moonis Elahi, according to Hassan Naqvi of The Friday Times.

Muhammad Khan Bhatti was appointed as a grade-7 officer in 1995 and promoted to Grade-19 in 1997, thanks to Ch Parvez Elahi.

Recently Bhatti was arrested from Quetta when he was trying to flee to Iran. He has been facing charges of corruption and embezzlement, costing national kitty dear.

Bhatti is likely to become an approver against Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi as, according to sources in Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), he confessed to greasing the palm of the personalities on high places at the behest of Parvez Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi.

He exposed the Elahis' nexus with the corrupt and their modus operandi to run their embezzlement business and money-making spree, the insiders said.

“The money I made through transfer and postings of bureaucrats, police and the kickbacks I earned through misdeeds were given to Parvez and Moonis in cash,” Bhatti recorded in his confessional statement.

Related audios and videos will be out soon, the sources said, adding that the recorded stuff will substantiate the confessional statement.

Director General of ACE Sohail Zafar Chattha formed a four-member team to bring Bhatti to Lahore as a Rs800 million corruption case has already been registered against him.

Bhatti had received a huge amount of illicit money,” a senior official said. XEN of C&W Rana Iqbal has already been arrested and he recorded his statement against Bhatti in court.

“Now Bhatti is ready to become an approver and had confessed that everything was done on the former chief minister and his son’s instructions.
