Rapist of six years old girl punished in Mardan

A child protection court in Mardan on Saturday gave its verdict in a minor girl rape case.
The court said that Jan Muhammad was found guilty of raping a six years old girl. The court punished the convict with 14 years in jail and Rs1.1 million fine. The convict will spend another two years in jail in case of failure to pay the fine. The minor girl was raped in the Bakhshali area in Mardan in 2019.
The number of child rape cases has increased alarmingly in Pakistan in recent years, while the conviction rate has remained disappointingly low in such cases.
