Three dacoits wanted by police were killed by firing of their own colleagues during an alleged encounter in Nowshera Virkan area of Kamoke in Gujranawala Division, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The law enforcers of Police Station Saddar Kamoke had set up a picket at Harpoki Canal, when they stopped seven to eight people. The accused started firing at the police party. 

The police personnel lay on the ground and saved their lives. They returned fire only a few times just in self-defence. The accused were successful in escaping from the scene amid intense firing. 

As the firing stopped, the police party, during their search, found three dead bodies of the alleged dacoits. They were killed by the alleged firing of their fellow robbers. 

The dead were identified as Zeeshan alias Shani, Amer and Sajid. All the three accused were got freed by their fellow dacoits from Police Station Ladhewala Warraich after an exchange of fire. 

The accused have criminal record. They were wanted by police for being involved in many cases of dacoities, house robberies and raping women during dacoities. 

The accused in past few days had rapped many women during dacoities in the limits of Police Station Tatley Aali.

The police teams were formed under the supervision of SP Sadder Rizwan Tariq to arrest the accused. 

The CPO said that elements involved in crimes would be dealt with iron hands and the citizens will be provided calm and peaceful environment.
