PM s approval sought to set up courts for quick disposal of rape cases

The Ministry of Law on Tuesday sent a summary to Prime Minister Imran Khan, seeking establishment of courts for early disposal of rape cases, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The summery suggested the Prime Minster Imran Khan that special powers should be given to the courts of Sessions and Additional Sessions Judges to decide the rape cases within 120 days.

Spokesperson of the Law Ministry confirming the summery sent to the PM said that after getting approval of the PM, it would be forwarded to the President to issue ordinance in this regard.

He informed that a special committee for anti-rape ordinance was already established that was headed by Parliamentary Secretary Barrister Maleeka Bukhari.

The spokesman said that they were also working on the establishment of the Anti-Rape Crisis Cells at all district levels. He confirmed that after approval of the present, the courts would be notified.
