Man kills newly-wed daughter after ‘death feast invitation’

Ehsas Programme official rapes girl at her home after getting personal data

A newly-wed girl was killed by her father in the name of so-called honour after she had opted to marry a person of her own choice, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The tragic incident occurred in the Allahabad area of Larkana where the murderer, Ghulam Haider Lashari, tricked Saima Lashari, 18, by inviting her to his home for a dinner feast.

But the move was solely aimed at claiming her life as he shot dead his own daughter with a pistol before fleeing the scene, in another example of our society still not ready to accept that an individual isn’t committing a crime or sin by exercising her or his right to choose a life partner.

Meanwhile in Layyah, an official associated with the PTI government’s Ehsas Programme was presented in a local court for remand after he raped a teenage girl.

Police had confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, saying the crime was committed on October 27 with the case filed three days ago.

The heinous nature of the case could be gauged by the fact that the accused raped the victim – a ninth-grade student – at her home in Chaubara tehsil.

For this purpose, he obtained her personal data and promised to get her registered for the Ehsas Programme. Medical examination has confirmed that the 15-year-old girl had been subjected to sexual assault.

According to the victim, she had visited the Ehsas Centre with her mother to collect relief money. After finding out all the details, the rapist kept harassing her on phone and then visited her house for raping her before fleeing the scene.
