Strong earthquake jolts Karachi, Badin, Sajawal

A strong earthquake has jolted several Pakistani cities including Karachi, Badin and Sajawal on Thursday afternoon, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The earthquake was measured at 4.8 on the Richter Scale and shaken a number of Sindh cities. The earthquake struck at 2.45 pm with people rushing outside of their houses, shops and offices.
District Sajawal’s areas of Jaati and Aaspaas were shaken by the earthquake which was also felt in Choohar Jamali and its suburban areas.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
