How the lockdown could be eased when the inflation and death rates are on the rise, questioned PML-N senior leader Shahid Khaqan on Tuesday.

Talking to media persons, Abbasi asked everyone to explain what the government strategy on coronavirus was, as they could not see any. When the government implemented the lockdown, he asked.

The former prime minister said the prime minister had not issued a statement yet to say that there should be lockdown, as Imran had stated that the lockdown was by the elite, not him.

It’s strange logic, it’s a strange thinking, Allah should have mercy on us, said Abbasi.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted protective bail to Abbasi and former secretary Arshad Mirza for another three weeks.

Accepting the pleas, the IHC ordered the two accused to appear before the relevant court in the PSO (Pakistan State Oil) MD appointment case by May 27.

During the hearing, Abbasi’s lawyer told the two-member bench – comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani – his client could not appear before the court in Karachi as the federal and Sindh governments had extended the lockdown till May 15.

After hearing the arguments, the IHC accept the protective bail plea, which had been previously granted till May 12.
