Newly appointed Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem to take oath on May 7

Today's swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has been cancelled. Now he will take oath on May 7 at 6 pm, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Sunday.
According to the channel, Sardar Salim Hyder Khan is nominated by PPP for Governor of Punjab and President Asif Ali Zardari has accorded his approval to the appointment.
The president approved the appointment of Punjab Governor under Article 101 (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The newly-proposed Punjab Governor Sardar Salim was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013 on a PPP ticket.
He hails from Tehsil Fateh Jhang from District Attock. In November 2008, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and was appointed as Minister of State for Defence Production where he served until February 2011.
In June 2012, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and was appointed Minister of State for Defence where he served until March 2013.
He also served as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis during the previous government.
Last Friday, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a coalition partner in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government nominated Saleem Haider Khanas governor of Punjab.
