LHC grants pre-arrest bail to Safdar in treason case till 10th

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday granted a pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and husband of Maryam Nawaz Captain (retd) Safdar Awan in a treason case for allegedly using derogatory remarks against state institutions and instigating people, reported24NewsHD TV channel.
The LHC has stopped the Police from arresting Safdar Awan till the next hearing of the case.
The Gujranwala Police had registered a treason case against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and husband of Maryam Nawaz Captain (retd) Safdar Awan for using derogatory remarks against state institutions and instigating people on Sunday.
As per the FIR, Captain Safdar used derogatory remarks against state institutions at Imran Khalid Butt’s residence in Gujranwala the other day.
The PML-N is going to stage a rally in Gujranwala on October 16 in which party Vice-President Maryam Nawaz will also deliver a speech.
A meeting was called for the preparedness and arrangements of the rally in Gujranwala, in which Javed Latif, Khurram Dastagir Khan, Abid Raza Kotla and local leadership of the PML-N participated. After the meeting, Captain Safdar while talking to media persons used derogatory remarks.
The FIR registration was initiated on the recommendation of Deputy Commissioner Suhail Ashraf while the FIA was lodged on behalf of SHO Satellite Town Police Station. MPA Imran Khalid Butt has also been named in the case.
