The PIA plane was stopped from taking off from Toronto airport for several hours due to non-payment of dues to the tune of 200,000 dollars to the ground handling and fuel companies in Canada, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The PIA sources informed that the Toronto airport authorities barred a plane of the national flag carrier from flying on the complaint of the airport’s ground handling and fuel companies which claimed that the PIA defaulted on 0.2 million dollars payment.
In this hold-up saga, the passengers of the PIA Flight PK 790 had to suffer. They had to wait for several hours. Even their boarding process was also halted.
The plane was scheduled to fly back to Lahore from Toronto airport.
The PIA spokesperson said that the plane was released and allowed to take off from the Toronto airport after the national flying company paid its dues totaling 0.2 million dollars to the ground handling and fuel companies.
The spokesperson explained that the payment was delayed as it was night time in Pakistan.
He said that the PIA flight suffered a 4-hour delay during the plane hold-up saga.
The spokesperson, however, said that the PIA flight schedule is working as per the routine now.
