The Education Authority Lahore has declared as many as 239 schools of the city as “defaulters” for not setting up book banks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Despite the orders of District Education Authority Lahore, heads of such schools did not establish book banks which caused severe shortage of books.
After shortage of books, parents amassed complaints at the Education Authority office for not getting the books on time.
Due to lack of book banks in these schools, 100 percent books could not be provided to the children so far.
Education Authority Lahore has sought response from heads of 239 schools for not providing book bank data.
In its letters, the Education Authority directed school heads to provide the records of the books in the book banks immediately.
If the data is not provided by April 6, action will be taken against the school principals under the PEDA Act, Education Authority further directed.
