Commenting on the conviction and subsequent arrest of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday dispelled the impression that it was an act of political victimization, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a presser in Islamabad, she said that a man who had been concealing his corruption for the last 15 months was at last caught. “He had been under the scanner for the last one year,” she said.

She accused Imran of continuously lying to the investigators and evading arrest.

She dispelled the impression that the former prime minister's arrest was part of political victimization. “Out of total 40 times he was summoned in connection with the case, PTI chief appeared in the court only thrice, Marriyum said, adding he kept submitting false statements to the court. “And now he has been proven guilty,” she said.

The minister said whenever Imran was asked to respond to graft charges against him, he would attack the state institutions.

Responding to a question about the meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI), she said it was a sensitive forum; therefore it was better to refrain from making speculations.
