The Commerce Ministry has failed to finalise textile and trade policies so far.

The ministry has yet to allay stakeholders’ concerns about the draft of the new trade policy. Also, the ministry has yet to send its textile policy to the ECC.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had pointed out flaws in trade and textile policies and directed the Commerce Ministry to seek recommendations from the relevant ministries and institutions and submit these policies to the ECC.

However, these policies have not been submitted to the ECC even after a lapse of two and a half weeks. The ECC and the federal cabinet are the competent authorities to approve these policies. Now there is a proposal that these policies should be drafted afresh and then sent to the ECC after due permission of the prime minister.
