Fighting locusts is now Centre’s responsibility!

The Centre has taken responsibility on itself to deal with the locust attacks in the future, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Earlier, the task lied with the provinces. Now the Centre will create a new department to fight the locusts with an initial fund of Rs22 billion. Out of these Rs22 billion, Rs3 billion have been spared for the four districts of South Punjab.

Resultantly, the Punjab government has barred Cholistan Development Authority from using Rs10 million funds for the purpose.
