Punjab stops 27 colleges from offering BS Hons degree

Punjab Higher Education Department on Wednesday stopped 27 out of 29 colleges from offering BS Hons degree programmes over lack of infrastructure, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The TV channel reported that only the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has the final authority to approve the issuance of BS Honors degrees in the said colleges.
Inspection Team of Directorate of Colleges Lahore Division Education inspected infrastructure of BS Honors in private colleges and found only two up to the mark.
The inspection team prevented 27 out of 29 private colleges from issuing BS Honors till completion of the required infrastructure. Only two private colleges in Lahore have been declared eligible for BS Honors degrees, the TV channel reported.
The colleges which have been stopped and declared ineligible till further notice to offer BS Honours are: Pak Polytechnic College Allama Iqbal Town, Pakistan School of Economics, City Institute, Pak Vision College Harbanspura, Islah International College, Gulab Devi College Ferozepur Road, Premier Institute, Lahore School of Management, Aspire College, City Institute, CFC College Garden Town, Afro-Asian Institute, Al-Razi Institute, Orbit Institute, Rise College Garden Town, Central College of Commerce, Lahore Medical and Dental College Tulspura, Aird Institute of Management Sciences Garden Town, Himayat-e-Islam College for Women Garden Town and Lahore School of Innovation and Technology Peco Road.
