The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province and banned pillion riding in view of Muharram security, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.


According to the notification, there will be no new innovation in Muharram processions and gatherings.


The display of all types of weapons and incendiary materials in public places without the permission of competent authorities will be prohibited.


There will be a complete ban on provocative slogans and gestures that incite public sentiments, beliefs, and sects.


Section 144 is imposed on remarks inciting inter-religious, communal, or racial hatred through any device.


The construction of fronts on the roofs of houses or other buildings located on the procession routes is prohibited.


It is prohibited to collect stones, bricks, bottles, or garbage on the roofs of the buildings along the procession routes.


During the procession, the presence of spectators on the roofs of the buildings or shop fronts along the route is prohibited.


A ban has been imposed on pillion riding except for senior citizens, women, and officials of law enforcement agencies (LEAs).


All restrictions except double riding will be applicable from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram.


The ban on double riding will be applicable from the 7th to the 10th of Muharram.


Muharram control room


The Punjab Home Department has set up Muharram Control Room in the provincial Secretariat.


The control room of the home department will be connected with the control rooms of all the districts.


These control rooms will provide security duty during Muharram.


The Muharram control room will also be connected to all control rooms of the Punjab Police.


A grade seventeen officer will be on duty in this control room at all times and this control room will work round the clock.
