Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Fazlur Rehman said on Monday that former prime minister Imran Khan's agenda was to destroy the country.
“The last government damaged the national economy and from day one, we knew about its motives,” he said while addressing a press conference in Gujranwala.
He said in the last regime, he raised concerns over the economic issues and devaluation of the Pak rupee.
He added, “We are not against the judiciary. If a judge or a general commits a mistake, he should be criticised.”
The Pakistan Democratic Movement is not an electoral alliance, everyone has their choices, the JUI chief said.
He listed the coalition government’s feats, saying: “Friendly countries including China and Saudi Arabia are ready to help us.
"Due to trade ties with Russia, the value of the Pak rupee is stabilizing.
He laid stress on stern action against the persons involved in May 9 riots
“The state is the plaintiff in the May 9 case. If actions are not taken against the miscreants, it will not be appropriate. Imran Khan should negotiate with himself. “
Last month the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists took to the streets to vent their spleen over the arrest of ex-prime minister Imran in a corruption case.
They damaged public property, state assets and sensitive installations. Innocent people lost their lives and the riots left a trail of destruction.
They also stormed GHQ in Rawalpindi, Corps Commander House in Lahore and Radio Pakistani in Peshawar.
