Islamabad United have qualified for the playoffs in the eighth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The two-time PSL title holders have played seven matches in PSL 8 so far, and they remained victorious in five of them.

The team had won their campaign opener against Karachi Kings by four wickets.

In the second match, Islamabad United experienced a massive 52-run defeat at the hands of Multan Sultans.

The team, however, managed to stage a comeback in their third match and defeated Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets.

Again, the team inflicted a crushing 63-run defeat on Quetta Gladiators in their fourth match.

Islamabad United might have felt hard done by lady luck in their fifth match, for they had been hammered by belligerent Lahore Qalandars and suffered a colossal 110-run defeat.

The team, however, managed to stand on feet in their sixth match and defeated Karachi Kings by six wickets in the last over.

In their last match, Islamabad United managed to overcome Quetta Gladiators as the former won by two wickets in the last over, qualifying for the playoffs.

It is to be noted here that Islamabad United have ascended to the second position on the points table with 10 points.

Earlier, defending champions Lahore Qalandars had led the way into the playoffs of PSL 8.
